The main aim of this article is to present the analysis and assessment of a training program on Academic Management developed at the Spanish University. It was designed within the framework of a wider research project on government and management at the University, and its distinctive feature is that it is based on the methodology of case analysis. The program was developed from April to September 2014 in the University of Seville. The analysis of that experience was made using quantitative as well as qualitative research strategies. Among the former, two questionnaires were applied. Qualitative strategies included the observation of every session and semi-structured interviews with some participants. The results obtained point out the relevance of the content as well as the convenience of the analysis of real cases as a training strategy. Consequently, some implications for the improvement of training programs for academic managers may be derived from them.
