Abstract

The following paper describes the implementation of a Social Labour Training Programme for young high school graduates with special educational needs associated to a mild cognitive disability in a university environment. The stages of this process were the search of national and international information about similar experiences, the development of a curriculum according to its special needs of personal and social development, the creation of guidelines of academic and administrative procedures that support the program, the diffusion of the program in the high schools establishments with special educational needs and to parents organizations, the selection of the petitioners, the search of the teachers, the fulfilmentl of the subjects of study and the permanent evaluations of the procedures. The program started with 36 students in March 2006, currently there are 44 regular students and 117 graduates. The results indicate a 58.9% job placement, a 46.2% increase in autonomy and an 83% overall satisfaction of families and students regarding the program.
